Three Peaks, One Goal: Raising Money For Mental Health

Help Us Put X-4RCE’s Big Orange Bus on the Road in Luton

On 25 October 2025, our team will be lacing up our boots to take on the Surrey Three Peaks Challenge, hiking 37km (1060m ascent) covering Box Hill, Leith Hill, and Holmbury Hill in a single day. Every step we take will be to raise funds for something that could make a life changing difference in Luton: X-4RCE’s Big Orange Bus.

This bright LTFC orange Ford Transit minibus will be fitted out as a mobile drop in centre for everyone, helping X-4RCE bring their support services directly into local communities.

Why the Big Orange Bus Matters

X-4RCE is already doing incredible work across Luton, from peer support groups and one-to-ones to fitness and community activities that help people connect, grow, and find their footing.

But a permanent building can only reach so far. The Big Orange Bus changes that. It means taking support into local neighbourhoods, right outside estates, community venues, and local events, and offering a space that’s safe, welcoming, and easy to access.

For many, that first conversation on the bus could be the start of a longer journey: from signposting and onward referrals to joining X-4RCE’s regular sessions and activities.

The OS Explorer 146 Map includes the complete Surrey Three Peaks route - as above, the route combines sections of the North Downs Way, Leith Hill Greenway, Mole Gap Trail, Pilgrim's Way and the Greensand Way.

What the Bus Will Do

  • Park up where support is needed most
  • Provide a safe space for conversation, signposting, and referrals
  • Connect visitors into X-4RCE’s ongoing activities and networks
  • Increase visibility of support and make it easier to access

Where Your Donations Go

Every contribution directly fuels the Big Orange Bus project, helping to cover:

  • Vehicle & fit-out: seating, privacy screens, lighting, power and secure storage.

  • Safeguarding & operations: insurance, maintenance, DBS checks and volunteer training.

This ensures the bus is not only on the road but fully equipped to deliver meaningful, safe, and lasting impact.

The Challenge

To raise funds, our colleagues and friends are tackling a 36km hike across Box Hill, Leith Hill, and Holmbury Hill, all in a single day. We’ll be earning every pound the hard way, and we’d love your support to keep us going.
